The building includes a total of over 70,000 sf of amenity space, including a state of the art fitness center, pilates studio, spin studio, wellness studio, boxing ring, basketball and squash courts, a golf simulator, a 75’ indoor lap pool, spa suite with two treatment rooms, and men’s and women’s steam and sauna rooms. Additionally, the Skyline residences have a separate amenity space at level 48 with its own outdoor terrace, a private bar lounge, a separate event space with catering kitchen, boardrooms, and additional gym and private training spaces.

In the construction of Marina City, the world’s tallest reinforced concrete building when it was built, McHugh used fiberglass forms designed and fabricated by its own personnel. Climbing cranes were utilized in one of the country’s first applications of such equipment which has since become a standard item in high-rise concrete construction. These new techniques provided notable cost reductions despite the unusual shape of the structure.

The structure houses the Park Hyatt Hotel, a 195-guestroom luxury hotel. The hotel features a fitness facility with swimming pool, administrative spaces, meeting facilities and a five-star restaurant overlooking Michigan Avenue. The residential portion features 475,000 square feet of luxury condominiums with fireplaces and balconies with panoramic lake views.

The lower floors include approximately 20,000 square feet of tenant retail space and an additional 92,000 square feet serves as parking spaces.

The massive amenity package will span over 75,000 square feet, consisting of an expansive outdoor pool deck with cabanas and cookout stations, an indoor pool and spa, a virtual golf room, a kids’ room, a gaming room, multiple lounge spaces, and a 73rd-floor sky bar. There will also be a large lobby connected to a porte cochere underneath the podium. Parking in the rear of the podium will provide 325 spaces and bike parking for 356 bikes.

Within the apartments, the McHugh/Crea joint venture is overseeing the installation of new appliances, countertops, plank flooring, plumbing, fixtures and lighting, plus electrical system upgrades and painting. Building corridors will also receive new finishes. The team began staggered renovations of the classic studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments at Prairie Shores in the fall of 2020. With units being renovated in phases, the community could maintain its high occupancy levels and minimize disruption for current residents.
